The CASALE DEI RUSCELLI (‘Farmhouse of the Streams’) stands in the valley of the river Turrite in the municipality of Fabbriche di Vallico, one of the smallest municipalities in Italy. Access is from the well-signposted crossroads on the provincial road “Lodovica”, which runs right through Garfagnana. For about 2kms, you go along a charming road beside the artificial lake formed by the river, and through a few old tunnels.

Our property is situated in the locality of Isola in one of the smallest municipalities in Italy, inside the Garfagnana natural park, therefore far from any industrial areas or noise and immersed in the greenery of the mountain village. The property comprises the stream with a natural basin where you can bathe in a surreal atmosphere surrounded by all kind s of plants and centuries’ old chestnut trees. For us, it was love at first sight; the original building bewitched us for the beauty of its surroundings. Three years ago we decided to turn it into a HOLIDAY HOME and protect it within the breathtaking magic of Garfagnana which, once entered your heart, will never leave you.

The CASALE DEI RUSCELLI (‘Farmhouse of the Streams’) is an old farmhouse built in the first half of the 20th century and renovated in 2005 with every attention being paid to extreme comfort, but at the same time maintaining the rural essence of the building. In fact, the renovation was conservative in nature: exposing the stonework of all the external walls; on the second floor, preserving the old bread oven, which is still in working order; and leaving in place the old brick floors and the ceilings with their wooden beams.

The property comprises seven apartments, all with private bathroom, six with small kitchen area and some with balconies. One apartment has been designed to cater for disabled guests.
 

The ground floor maintains the original grating at the windows. The furnishings are those typical of our old country houses with sideboards, chests of drawers and bedside cabinets dating from the turn of the 20th century. On the walls there are antique plates, moulds and pots in copperware. The private land of about 5,000 square metres surrounding the building offers a car park, a swimming pool, a solarium and a play area for children. During the summer, you can even bathe in the river Turrite, which borders the land of the Casale, in a wonderful corner of uncontaminated nature.

The building also has a terrace with a panoramic view, equipped with sun beds and beach umbrellas. The wood-burning oven is lit on request and guests can enjoy the taste of warm, fragrant, freshly-baked bread, delicious focacce, or even roast meats and typical soups.
